SkeeterTheDuck’s personality is back after spraining her ankle a week before. Shes in good spirits and is having a good time splashing about behind my office. But now we have a new problem. Skeeter has been harassed (and even attacked) by a hawk. I haven’t been able to identify the type of hawk, but I believe could be one of three. A juvenile red-tailed hawk, a Cooper’s hawk, or the most likley candidate… a sharp-shinned hawk. SkeeterTheDuck messed up her ankle about a week ago somehow, this is the first day she was able to get up and walk around on her own. It was a little bit of a struggle for her, but she followed me out of bed that morning. We are all glad that she has pulled through yet again! She’s such a trooper and we are all so proud of her! Skeeter is a Khaki Campbell duck, which is a custom breed of the common duck that includes mallards. Times are tough when a hawk stalks a skeeter for the slim chance of duck meat.
MrTomx123 says
we have manny hawks here in iowa if you kill one here and get caught man lots of time with 3 hots and a cot at the cross bar hotel
SkeeterTheDuck says
@MrTomx123 Same here, so it will have to be self-defense…. c’mon hawk!
SkeeterTheDuck says
@nintendolunchbox Must be, Skeeter is considerably larger than this hawk, too.

Sometimes animals know when another animal is hurt or vulnerable. Hope that damn hawk goes away!
SkeeterTheDuck says
@1019cristin Maybe, but the hawk was after her before she was hurt.
